No old course question papers for upcoming private JKBOSE exams

Srinagar, Jan 1: In a latest development, the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has decided to do away with the practice of prescribing question papers from old course syllabi for the students appearing in the ensuing annual and bi-annual private examination.

The decision will be applicable for both secondary (10th) and senior secondary (11th and 12th) class students.

Talking to Greater Kashmir, Secretary JKBOSE Ghulam Hassan Sheikh said that the provisions allow the Board to discard the old course syllabi for private examination.

“More than three years have passed, but we were continuing the practice of prescribing question papers from old and new courses for the students in private exams,” he told Greater Kashmir.

He said that it was adding an unnecessary burden of printing cost on JKBOSE.

“So we took a review of the issue and decided to discard the old course as it is allowed as per the provisions,” he said.

Meanwhile, Director Academic JKBOSE has also issued a notification in this regard stating that JKBOSE will discard the practice of prescribing question papers from the old course.

“Students and other stakeholders of secondary and senior secondary examination, old course, who have to appear in ensuing Annual private /bi-annual examination 2026 are informed that the question papers for re-appear and those who failed in the previous exams, will be henceforth set from the syllabus and courses of studies as is presently in vogue for the regular students of the academic session 2024-25 and 2025-26,” the JKBOSE notification reads.
