Jammu, Jan 2: Explosive batting displays backed by tactically disciplined bowling shaped the results of two matches in the HexaMed BIG Jammu Kashmir Premier League at the University of Jammu Ground, as Tiles and Bath CC and Sultan Warriors Baramulla registered convincing victories on an action-packed day of the tournament.

The matches, as per a statement issued on Friday, were graced by Haseeb Ur Rehman, IPS, DIG Railways-J&K, who interacted with players and organisers and addressed the gathering. In his address, Haseeb Ur Rehman said that platforms like BIG JKPL play a crucial role in promoting sports culture among the youth of Jammu & Kashmir. He emphasised that cricket instils discipline, teamwork, leadership and a competitive spirit, which are essential qualities for nation-building.

He appreciated 92.7 BIG FM and the organising team for conducting the league in a professional manner and encouraged young players to pursue sports with dedication, perseverance and integrity.

The league is being conducted with the support of HexaMed Diagnostics as the Title Partner, CT University as the Powered By Partner, Kanwal Spices and Oxford Hospital as the Associate Partners, JK Sports Time as the Live Streaming Partner, and Pepsi as the Beverage Partner.

In the first match of the day, Tiles and Bath Cricket Club registered a convincing victory over Kanwal Tigers. Batting first, Kanwal Tigers were bowled out for 154 runs in 18.5 overs. Kulwinder Singh delivered a fiery spell, picking up 4 wickets for 27 runs, while Rajat Sharma provided crucial breakthroughs with figures of 3 wickets for 20 runs, earning him the Player of the Match award.

Chasing a target of 155, Tiles and Bath got off to an explosive start through Aman Khatri, who smashed 35 runs off 15 balls. Shubham Singh Pundir then anchored the innings with a dominant unbeaten 62 off 30 balls, hitting five sixes and three fours. During his knock, he also completed the milestone of 1,000 career runs. Tiles and Bath reached 156/4 in 14.1 overs, winning comfortably with nearly six overs to spare.

The second match witnessed a batting masterclass by Sultan Warriors Baramulla, who posted a massive 242/3 in 18 overs against Power Panthers Cricket Club. Waseem Kachur starred with a blistering 70 off 31 balls, supported by Tajamul Babaโ€™s quick 61 off 28 balls and Asim Bashirโ€™s brisk 41 off 18 balls.

In reply, Power Panthers fought back through a valiant 84 off 38 balls by Sameer War and a quick 36 off 14 balls by Sameer Wani, but disciplined bowling by Harjinder Singh and Inam Lefty restricted them to 188/9, handing Sultan Warriors a 54-run victory. Waseem Kachur was adjudged the Player of the Match.

Also present on the occasion were Vikrant Sharma, Cluster Head North, 92.7 BIG FM, RJ Juhie, Morning Show Host, along with Ahmer Ikhlaq and Sahil Choudhary, who thanked the teams, officials, media and spectators for their continued support as the BIG JKPL continues to grow in stature and excitement.
