Rajouri, Jan 2: The Indian Army, in collaboration with the civil administration has established a Community Radio Station (CRS) along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district.
This is the first Community Radio Station to be set up on the LoC, with the primary objective of countering misinformation and propaganda emanating from across the border.
The initiative is expected to serve as a credible platform for disseminating authentic information and addressing local concerns.
The radio station has been established at Doongi Keri, a border village located nearly one kilometre from the LoC.
Owing to its strategic location, the broadcast of the station can also be heard in areas across the LoC in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
The CRS was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, in the presence of civil society members, officers of the civil administration, and local residents.
The inauguration marked a collaborative effort involving security forces, administration, and the community.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma said that the community radio station would act as a platform for social upliftment, awareness, and public participation, while also playing a crucial role in countering fake propaganda being spread from PoJK.
He emphasised that the initiative would help amplify local voices and strengthen the connect between the administration and border residents.
