Rajouri, Jan 3: MLA Thanamandi Muzaffar Iqbal Khan chaired a meeting of the Rogi Kalyan Samiti (RKS) to review the healthcare scenario in the Thanamandi and Darhal areas of the Thanamandi Assembly constituency in Rajouri district.
During the meeting, the legislator expressed strong displeasure over the poor state of healthcare services in the region, terming the situation alarming.
He said that several hospitals and health institutions were either functioning without doctors or were being managed by a single doctor, which he described as merely symbolic and inadequate to meet public healthcare needs. Muzaffar Iqbal Khan stressed that such a situation was unacceptable, particularly in remote and hilly areas where people are heavily dependent on government health facilities. He called for immediate corrective measures to ensure the availability of doctors and essential medical services.
The MLA directed the concerned health authorities to address staff shortages on a priority basis and take concrete steps to improve the functioning of healthcare institutions in the constituency, so that people could receive timely and quality medical care. He stated that matter pertaining to shortage of doctors has been taken up with the government multiple times with demand both to refer the vacancies to competent recruitment authority as well as to recruit doctors under NHM but nothing has been done so far.
