New Delhi, Jan 4: Venezuela’s Supreme Court has ruled that Vice President Delcy Rodríguez should assume the role of interim president, citing the need to ensure administrative continuity and the comprehensive defence of the nation.
Reuters reported that according to the court, the move is intended to guarantee the continuity of the state, the functioning of government and the defence of sovereignty in light of the “forced absence” of President Nicolás Maduro.
The high court said it will continue to debate the matter to determine the appropriate legal framework to manage the transition.
