Describing Sher-e-Kashmir as a towering figure in the history of Jammu and Kashmir, the National Conference rank and file said he transformed the region from a feudal, colonial society into a progressive, democratic and secular one.

]]> Srinagar, Sept 06: Kashmir witnessed massive night-long religious gatherings on the eve of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) as thousands of devotees assembled at Hazratbal and other shrines across the Valley.

The birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), observed on the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awal, the third month of the Islamic (Hijri) calendar, drew people in large numbers who spent the night in prayers, recitation, and Shab-e-Khawani.

As per officials, hundreds of people were evacuated to safer places by the NDRF and SDRF personnel with the help of officials from the district administrations.

The sudden flow submerged several houses, lanes and the main road. The families have reportedly moved their belongings to higher ground.

]]> Srinagar, Aug 28: The rising water level of the Jhelum River raised concerns for dwellings along its banks and within the low-lying areas of its overflow channels.

In response, the administration took all precautionary measures.Contingency plans were activated, and response teams were put in place as water levels continued to rise throughout Wednesday.
