Jammu, Dec 25: The Indian Army’s Sabre Brigade conducted an intensive training programme for Village Defence Guards at Purmandal in Jammu, focusing on enhancing their operational readiness and coordination with security forces.

During the exercise, the VDGs were imparted hands-on training to enhance their operational capabilities, with a focus on weapon handling, firing practices and basic battle drills.

The programme was designed to improve their preparedness and effectiveness in supporting community defence, particularly in vulnerable border and rural areas.

Army officials stated that such training initiatives play a vital role in strengthening coordination between the armed forces and local defence groups, thereby contributing to overall security and resilience at the grassroots level.

The training was received with enthusiasm by the participants, who expressed confidence that the skills acquired would enable them to better safeguard their villages and assist security forces when required.
