Rajouri, Dec 28: Police brass on Sunday laid emphasis on strengthening the grassroots level of intelligence generation, especially in the execution of Counter Terror Operations (CT OPs) in the Poonch district of the Pir Panjal region.
The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Rajouri-Poonch Range, Tejinder Singh, asked officers at field unit levels to document the intelligence inputs at unit levels.
The directions were issued during a high-level security meeting conducted at the District Police Office, Poonch, chaired by Singh.
SP Poonch, Shafqat Hussain, all Sub Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs), Deputy SP Operation, all Station House Officers (SHOs) were present in the meeting, which primarily focused on a review of the security landscape in the border district where massive counter terrorism operations are going on to track the movement of terrorists suspected to be hiding in dense woods.
The meeting was conducted for a comprehensive intelligence, security, and crime review meeting at the conference hall of the DPO Poonch.
SSP Poonch, Shafqat Hussain, briefed the DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range on the prevailing security and intelligence scenario of the district.
Detailed discussions were also held regarding the crime profile, disposal of cases, and ongoing investigation efforts across the district, officials further informed.
During the review, extensive deliberations were held on rejuvenating the intelligence grid through effective implementation of basic policing at police stations and police posts, officials said.
They said that emphasis was laid on strengthening grassroots-level intelligence generation to ensure timely inputs and proactive policing.
Officials said that DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range issued clear instructions for effective implementation of the beat system, with a prime focus on identification and sustained surveillance of the terror ecosystem, narco-support structures, absconders, and other persons of tainted repute.
The officers were directed to ensure regular beat checks, community interaction, and documentation of intelligence inputs at the unit level.
The officers present in the meeting provided a detailed account of their field intelligence networks, existing security arrangements, and the initiatives being undertaken at the level of police stations, police posts, and SOG camps to maintain peace and thwart anti-national and criminal activities.
Reviewing efforts against narco-smuggling and terror networks, the DIG Rajouri-Poonch range also directed the officers to further augment operations through innovative intelligence collection and analysis techniques, in addition to strengthening human intelligence (HUMINT) networks.
The crime position of the district was reviewed in detail, and it was impressed upon all officers to ensure strict adherence to prescribed investigation timelines.
The DIG emphasised the use of scientific and technology-driven investigation tools, effective deployment of forensic mobile units, and creation of Scene of Crime (SOC) documentation SIDs to ensure fair, transparent, and professional investigations.
The review concluded with directions to maintain high standards of alertness, professionalism, and public-centric policing to sustain peace and security in the district.
