Rajouri, Dec 28: Aimed at strengthening the Police and public relations and also to address the grievances of people living in villages ahead of Anti Infiltration Obstacle System (AIOS), a team of Police headed by senior officers visited the twin villages of Poonch – Kirni and Qasba.
These villages are located ahead of AIOS, commonly referred as LoC fence and are in Poonch district’s Poonch-Haveli tehsil.
A team of Police headed by DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range Tejinder Singh, along with SSP Poonch Shafqat Hussain and accompanied by DySP Headquarters Poonch Neeraj Sharma, conducted the visit.
During the visit, the senior officers held a public interaction with locals and listened to their grievances and concerns.
Issues related to civic amenities, security, border-specific hardships, movement restrictions, and other day-to-day problems faced by residents living in forward areas were brought to the notice of the officers.
Addressing the gathering, DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range Tejinder Singh said that the Police administration was fully committed to the welfare and security of border residents.
He assured the people that their genuine issues would be taken up with the concerned departments for time-bound redressal, and necessary follow-up would be ensured at the district and range level.
SSP Poonch Shafqat Hussain reiterated that the district Police Poonch remains accessible and responsive to the needs of the people, especially those residing in vulnerable and far-flung border areas. He said that grievances falling within the police domain would be addressed promptly, while matters pertaining to other departments would be coordinated effectively to ensure early resolution.
The officers also appealed to the people to continue extending cooperation to the Police and other security agencies in maintaining peace, law and order, and overall security in the border belt.
The visit and public meeting were widely appreciated by the local residents, who expressed satisfaction over the administration’s outreach and the assurance of early redressal of their issues.
