Banihal, Nov 24: The Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF), Government of India, has accorded Environment Clearance to the 1856 MW Sawalkot Hydroelectric Project (HEP) located at village Tanger in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to an official notice, the clearance has been granted vide letter No. J-12011/19/2011-IA-I, dated November 17, 2025.
The clearance marks a significant milestone for the long-pending mega power project, which is considered vital for boosting power generation capacity in the region.
Copies of the clearance letter are available with the State Pollution Control Board and can also be accessed on the official website of the Ministry of Environment and Forests.
