Banihal, Dec 25: A private reading facility, Allama Iqbal Library, was inaugurated at the SMS Complex in the Main Market of Banihal on Thursday. The inauguration ceremony was graced by Shabir Ahmed Tantray, Principal, Girls Higher Secondary School Banihal, who attended as the Chief Guest.
Renowned scholar Maulana Mufti Samer Ahmed and senior journalist Mohammad Taskeen Wani were present as Guests of Honour. Several prominent citizens, educationists, and teachers from the area also attended the event.
Speaking on the occasion, the library owner Faizan Ahmed Mir said that the primary objective of establishing the library was to provide students with a peaceful and noise-free study environment equipped with all essential facilities at an affordable fee. He further announced that 25 percent of the seats have been reserved for students from economically weaker sections, ensuring inclusivity and equal access to educational resources.
The guests and speakers appreciated the initiative and lauded the efforts of the library owner for promoting a culture of learning in the area. They urged students to make full use of the newly established facility and benefit from the academic resources available.
