Though the world is right now struggling with a terrible pandemic, other concerns of equal, if not more, magnitude should not be overlooked. These days some old challenges surfaced up with a renewed ferocity. The eternal affliction of inequality hit the human world with a severity never known before. The income differential between top-few and bottom-many is a reason for the global institutions to reorient economy, and its global structure. The way this pandemic hit the poor and the middle class, the debates about class are happening again. Similarly there is a concern about patterns of globalization; many believe that this globalization is more to the advantage of corporations than to people living across regions and countries. Here also, it is the job of global leadership as well as the political structure down below to think of a more humane connectivity, where the benefits of trade reach different sections of people in a jut manner. The exploitation on economic front is more devastating than the pandemic. Another huge concern is climate. The way new findings are surfacing up, the changes are threatening the very existence of mankind on this planet. In Kashmir we have many glaciers that are melting at a fast pace. In the preceding years we have seen many experts, within Kashmir and outside, warning us about this facet of global warming. We also need to get serious about it, and do the needful. We have many government institutions that are tasked with the collection of data on this front. They should do the work with a degree of rigour that is demanded now. Similarly, those who are meant for saving the natural resources should work hard to stop the degradation on that count. While we are facing this covid crisis, other matters of importance cannot be put on hold. All of us need to do, what we are supposed to do. If we keep things on a hold, using pandemic as an excuse, our crises in future will only pile up.
