Srinagar, Dec 27: “Kashmiri youth are the  voices of valour and architects of  destiny,” said the Chinar Corps Commander Lt General Prashant Srivastava as he reviewed the Attestation Parade of the Territorial Army in Kupwara.

These comments were made with an objective to inspire the newly inducted recruits to uphold the Indian Army’s traditions of valour and serve the nation with pride and selfless commitment.

During the ceremony, he underlined the vital role of the Territorial Army in national security and nation-building, while proud parents of the young soldiers were felicitated with the Gaurav Padak, the Army said in a post on X. “Kashmiri Youth: Voices of Valour, Architects of Destiny”Chinar Corps Commander reviewed the Attestation Parade of Kupwara Terriers and commended them for their turnout, discipline & drill. The Attestation Parade was conducted with full military decorum at Kupwara on Friday , marking the formal induction of new recruits into the Kupwara Terriers of the Territorial Army. The event signified the completion of their training and the recruits taking an oath to serve the nation with honour and integrity.

Senior Army officers, civil dignitaries, families of the recruits and members of the local community were present at the ceremony. The parade featured precise drill movements and reflected the high standards of discipline and morale maintained by the Territorial Army. Addressing the soldiers, the Reviewing Officer, Lt Gen Prashant Srivastava, congratulated the recruits and underscored the importance of the TA as a key pillar of national security, particularly in challenging operational environments such as Kupwara.

The recruitment drive for the TA battalion began in November 2024 under the aegis of the Vajr Division after a gap of five years. It saw large participation from youth in Kupwara and Bandipora districts. A total of 313 aspirants were selected and underwent rigorous training at the Jammu and Kashmir Regimental Centre in Jabalpur, culminating in the Attestation Parade.
