Srinagar, Dec 31: The Ministry of Finance has announced the promotion of Indian Revenue Service (Income Tax) officers of the 2016 batch to the rank of Joint Commissioner, marking a key milestone in their professional careers and entrusting them with higher responsibilities in tax administration.

From Jammu and Kashmir, two IRS (IT) officers of the 2016 batch have been elevated. Syed Junaid Aadil, presently serving as Deputy Director of Income Tax (Investigation), Kashmir, and Shakil Ahmad Ganie, currently posted as Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax, Kashmir, have been promoted to the post of Joint Commissioner.

Syed Junaid Aadil, a native of Srinagar, completed his education at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Srinagar, before joining the IRS. After undergoing professional training at the National Academy of Direct Taxes, Nagpur, he was posted in Delhi, where he served in the International Taxation wing. Over the years, he has held several important assignments and earned recognition for his contributions to the department.

Shakil Ahmad Ganie, hailing from Ganderbal district, pursued his education at Kashmir University. He has served in various capacities across the north-western region, including stints in the investigation wings of the Income Tax Department in Srinagar, Jalandhar and Jammu. For the past two years, he has been overseeing the jurisdictional charge of Srinagar Income Tax.

The promotion orders have been welcomed across central government offices in the Union Territory, with colleagues and well-wishers congratulating the officers on the eve of the New Year.
