Jammu, Dec 31: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu Joginder Singh Wednesday stated that there was no active terrorist presence in district Jammu.

“To maintain this security environment, 541 Cordon and Search Operations (CASOs) and 1093 Long Range Patrols (LRPs) were conducted in the year 2025,” he said while giving details about security and anti-terror measures, in a press conference at District Police Lines (DPL) Jammu.

Meanwhile, in a similar press conference in Kathua district, Senior Superintendent of Police Kathua, Mohita Sharma stated that two terrorists were eliminated in anti-terror operations in the district in 2025.

“Four terrorism related cases were registered during the year and seven persons were arrested. Besides in a major crackdown on the terror network, 18 Over Ground Workers, out of the total 39 identified, were booked under the Public Safety Act (PSA),” Sharma informed.

In Jammu district, SSP Joginder Singh, while presenting a brief overview of the crime situation, law and order scenario, and key policing outcomes including innovative measures taken for safer Jammu by District Police Jammu during the year 2025, said that 4134 FIRs were registered in the district (Jammu) in the year – the lowest figure in the last five years.

According to him, in the same period, 5,122 cases were disposed off, including 1,968 old cases and 3,154 new cases, making it the highest disposal in the last five years.

“The reduction of 288 cases is due to effective preventive action, PSA and PIT-NDPS detentions, proper bail contesting, bail cancellation appeals, proactive policing, 208 preliminary enquiries under Section 175 BNSS, and sustained deployments during Operation Sindoor and flash-flood duties,” Singh said, adding that the reduction reflected crime prevention, not under-reporting.

In case of crimes against property, SSP Jammu informed that the property worth approximately Rs 20 Cr was reported stolen during the year.

“Property worth around Rs 10 Cr was recovered, achieving an overall recovery rate of about 50 percent, the highest in the last five years. Special teams focused on burglary, vehicle theft, wire theft and cattle theft, leading to improved detection and recovery,” he said.

SSP informed that focussed action was taken against organised criminal networks; 123 hardcore criminals and gangsters identified; 59 FIRs registered against gangsters; 67 gangsters and hardcore arrested; 49 illegal weapons recovered; 73 FIRs registered under organised crime provisions; one accused was detained under UAPA and a zero-tolerance policy against organised and habitual offenders was strictly enforced.

In case of war against drugs, 204 NDPS FIRs were registered, 309 persons were arrested, he said.

“Eleven persons were detained under PIT-NDPS; 48 convictions were secured; four properties were attached and 23 drug-linked illegal structures were demolished by administration,” SSP said.

According to him, the recoveries included over 15 kgs heroin worth Rs 60 Cr in the international market, 78 kg ganja, 114 kg poppy straw, capsules and opium. “Supply-chain investigations led to 12 FIRs and 36 arrests across Jammu, Punjab, Kathua, Udhampur and Rajouri, using a strong administrative and financial investigation approach,” SSP Jammu said.

He informed that in case of cyber crimes, during 2025, 36 cyber FIRs were registered and 708 complaints were disposed off.

“Rs 5.26 Cr was refunded; Rs 6.69 Cr lien-marked and 746 mobile phones were recovered, worth about Rs 1.75 Cr and handed over to rightful owners in the district,” SSP Jammu said.
