Jammu, Jan 3: A magnificent Nagar Kirtan was taken out on Saturday in Jammu, in connection with the ensuing Prakash Parv of Guru Gobind Singhji- the 10th Guru of Sikhs on January 5, 2026, with religious fervour.
Thousands of enthusiastic devotees participated in the religious procession that began from Gurdwara Yadgar Guru Nanak Patsha Bibi Chand Kour Nagar, Jammu.
After passing through the main bazaars of Jammu city and outskirts, including Swami Vivekananda Chowk, Gumat, Dogra Chowk, Bikram Chowk, Gandhi Nagar, Gole Market, Balmiki Chowk, Shivaji Chowk and Khalsa Chowk, it culminated at Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Nanak Nagar Jammu, this evening.
The Nagar Kirtan was led by โPanj Pyareโ, followed by Gurbani Kirtan, Katha and Shabad Vichaar.
Ghatka โ with awe-inspiring acts of martial art displayed by Sikh youth โ proved to be the main highlight of Nagar Kirtan and a major attraction for devotees as well as onlookers.
The participants were offered sweet water, juices, fruits and other eatables by shopkeeper associations in different markets.
The district administration too had made elaborate arrangements for Nagar Kirtan. In order to ensure smooth movement of traffic during the movement of the procession, the traffic police had issued a comprehensive advisory diverting traffic.
Meanwhile, senior leadership of the BJP, led by J&K BJP president and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Sat Sharma and Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma, also participated in the holy Nagar Kirtan at Jammu and served Langar to the devotees.
Paying heartfelt tributes to the Guru Sahib Ji and the glorious Khalsa Panth, the BJP leaders prayed for peace, harmony, and prosperity, reaffirming that the ideals of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji and the Khalsa Panth would continue to guide humanity.
